Do you're boy a favor and pretend you love him and do not want to see him hurt and do not use the steering linkage or spindles from a lawn tractor. They wont hold up nor are they tight enough. Also please fill in your location so we know where you're at.

I have to agree. Buy a go kart instead. Lawn tractors just do not work out as go karts,
But hey welcome to the forum.

Yep for 8 bucks at Grainger you can get a small pulley to put on the tranny input shaft and mow lawns really fast. Or do wheelies too. There is a whole forum and following on you tube for these suped up lawn mowers. But for my kid its just not a go kart

There is nothing wrong with using a lawn tractor as a kart. You just have to change a few things like steering and you are good to go. Just make sure with us what needs to be done to make it safe at speed

Even the guys that race lawn tractors replace the front ends with go kart spindles... One of the main mods. Front axles on most tractors pivot as well...
