Default 34 year old noob...

Whats up my fellow karters ? I'm a car guy that has gotten tried of cars! Other than maintenece i just like driving them now ..besides you have to try really hard to get a ticket on a gokart here is south alabama. I bought a carter 2 seater for $70 bucks for my liittle girl and repowered it with a 6.5 intek briggs the guy across the street gave me for putting a water pump on his dakota.. plus he cut my grass all summer long. Soon after standing in a field near the house watching my little girl ride and getting attack by bands of mesquitos I decided to get one of my own . Enter the totally awsome manco dingo with a dusted 5hp briggs and a wore out tq belt with in days a used gx390 was found locally on cl for the pricey sum of $65.00 and a few man hours and a bullet lines 30 series converter (mistake),header, advanced timing key, air intake, bored carb, some fab work later I have a belt eating beast ! I hope i can help from time to time with some of you guys questions and look forward to you guys advice with mine ...

Welcome to the forum! Why don't you post up some pics of your karts?

The reason its eating belts is because the TC is not rate for that much power. You need a 40 series for that gx390. With all those mods have you removed the governor, put in 18 lb valve springs, and a billet rod and flywheel?

I'm in montgomery. and i do have reinforced rocker arms ,hi po valve springs , and gov removed....i have a gx340 i bought that runs for a $100 that i'm gonna build with all the billet goodies and bore it to the 88mm gx390 bore size ...and yes i realized the tc is not strong enough for the 390 but a have a 9 hp loncin 270 i might use it on or sell them together and have a 40 series on the way for the 390...and a salsbury clutch from a kawasaki mule in the works if the 40 series tc won't hold ...

Welcome! The Comet 40 is rated to 18hp, IIRC. Should hold up to your purposes as long as you're not badly overgeared.

Yet more proof that you're never too old to start a new hobby.
