That steering wheel looks like it came from the 70's

Is the drive tire bald or a slick?

the drive tire is not for this gokart. but the original was flat so I just put that one on. the original drive tire was knobby.

what do you mean by "part it". also I think I would be better for me to keep it so I would not feel bad about doing something wrong as I am knew to the hobby. also is it possible to take the break shoe and move it to the other side of the bar to accommodate for bigger tires? the slick that is on there is flat and barely slides on.

@Budget GoKart

Take it apart and sell pcs...

Example pull off the wheels and tierods and sell to:

budget gokart for $100 + shipping

Now you double your money and he has parts, finish same with everything else

I got this kart on Sunday the 23 of February 2020. can it be my build off kart? and I have to put the password birdhouse rite? also BGK knows I paid 50$ for it why would he pay 100$ for wheels and tires? If he would I would sell them to him.

Nothing about that kart should be hard.

If you want that to be a build off kart, you need to come up with some clever and crazy ideas. Like metallic flake paint! Hehe I'm crazy for that stuff

planing on a roll cage like the ones on the Honda Odyssey fl350. also planing on a live axle. can I get a link to the proper seat? thanks. bgk I don't know if the tires hold air because I don't have an adapter to get to the nipple. the drive tire has and obvious hole in the tube it was not on the kart when I got it.

You pay taxes????

And Karts of kaos, I wouldn't worry about a roll cage. Unless you put huge sticky slicks on there, it's pretty unlikely to roll. And even then, do you have any idea what it takes to make a real roll cage??

It takes real welding skills, a lot of triangulation, and actually a fair amount of math.
And that all together makes for a TON of weight, complexity, money, and just generally less fun.

What you're thinking of with a Honda Ody is not much more than a brush guard, liable to collapse in a wreck. It's mostly to make people FEEL safe.

It's much cheaper and actually safer to invest in a good DOT-approved motorcycle or kart racing helmet and maybe some motorcycle leathers.

If I'm right about it being a 400, yours is like a high school fling, rode hard put up wet, and needs a lot of work. Reason I'd strip it for parts is because generally speaking I wouldn't trust someone else's welds done at home, amongst other issues. Plain and simple it was probably someone in the learning stages of general mechanics and lots of corners probably cut.

As far as building a fl350 type cage, well, it's a tiny frame to begin with, meant for a tiny engine and tiny rider. Build the cage just slightly too low and you may only get a week of riding it before you out grow it. I do agree, take all the wheels, steering parts, and whatever else is actual go kart parts off, sell the frame for the $50 you have into it, and find a larger frame that hasn't been tortured all it's life to build. A roll cage is a blessing and a curse, if you are strapped in with a full cage you may be safer in a rollover, but harder to get in and out, and the cage may collapse in a bad enough wreck to pin you inside. No roll cage should also be a no seatbelt kart, that way you are thrown out of the kart, potentially out of harm's way, I should practice what I preach, but wear a helmet ALWAYS, regardless of weather a cage is present or not.

The picture is the little 400 I did for my niece and nephew, there isn't much to them and easy to build, but if you build yours look it over very carefully and be comfortable in the understanding that your inspection could be the only thing keeping you from serious injury, or yes, even death. Your call ultimately, I don't have to drive it!
