That should be your voltage lead
...it connects to (B+) on a volt meter
(about the same as connecting straight to the positive (+) terminal of the battery pack)

Can this system get 350lbs of kart and driver up to 25mph while still having enough torque for 20 degree slopes?

I think it'll be tough. We're moving about 200lbs of kart + driver at about that pace on slopes. It hits 35mph on flat pavement. If we geared down to a 25mph top speed, it'd likely haul another 150lbs around pretty well and handle 20 slopes. He can crawl a 35 hill with decent pep but the motor gets hot.
