Default Question

Call it a poll or something... but I have a question for everyone.

If you could name a part you wish you could buy for go karts... one that they simply DO NOT MAKE, what would it be?

I'm curious.

My needs are specific, so if someone was to repop Rupp Turbine wheels or Horstman can mufflers I'd be a happy boy. Not really a universal need, I know and not what you're really asking but that's my wish.

Hm..
"they simply do not make" is tricky...
I found out that most parts I though of are being made or have been made already
(just hard to find and extremely rare, thus very expensive)

like an external six speed transmission for example (5+R aswell as straight 6)
I think a nice and small five or six speed transmission for say gx and clones would be nice to have,
especially now that "we" have a manual clutch.

Other than that I cannot think of any part I wanted, that hasn't been made by someone on diygk already (or is close enough to something someone already did)

Okay, there are things of course.. Bret's engine (the one he wants to build one day)
A halfscale v8 (all RC engines I know are quarter scale or smaller)
but I couldn't afford those anyways

Plus a dozen other parts that are close but not exactly what I personally would want.
Those five spoke Cragar wheels for example.. I would want them in 8" not 6",
and a set of matching tires (Pirelli P7 early treat pattern [see attachment]) would be awesome.
just to name the first two of that list

Hehe Tihm, yes.. those

Adjustable spindles system. Different heights, axle size, axle angles, arm position, arm extensions. Currently looking for one and everything on the market is either crap or cost like a real car, or both. And the idea that everybody needs different geometry for rod attachment to account for ackerman? No never heard of it...

Like if you need a sprocket and axle adapters - there is a lot of systems on the market, so you can get the chain you want, the T number, the adapter for your axle, and easily put it all together in 30 seconds. They need to make something like that for spindles

Uh, Tihm, remember, Alex ('sid) is German, Goodyears are American but, yeah, good ol' BFGs would look sick

I'm with Alex, IMO, a good multispeed gearbox (or even a lousy one) with an internal clutch that runs off a honda/clone would sell like hotcakes. maybe we could contact Honda about segregating a CT90 gearbox

Oh I had GoodYear on my cars as soon as I couldnt get any P7 anymore
(performance wise one of the best tires I've ever had [no, no f1.. an asymmetric something NSC or so])
But if someone asked me which is my favourite it's always the old P7.
I still have one left, mounted on a Fuchs 15" just taking up space in the corner

Never had BFGs AFAIR.. Goodyear, Pirellis, Continental of course and a Dunlop winter something whichever Was in the top three tested and affordable.
Oh, a Set of 18" Kumhos on my GTV (because they were cheap)
And one time I have been offered a Set of Wolfrace wheels for my 914 (9x15 with 245/45 on the front and 11x15 with absurd 335/30 on the back) IIRC those were Mickey Thomsons (talking about US tires )... but I had them on my car for a week or two just to test them,
Didn't bought them.. impossible to drive without power steering and just 115HP; felt like riding a tank...

And Tihm.. raised lettering? really? NEIN!
On vintage race cars.. okay..
but I don't have one (or could afford one)
On ordinary cars .. it would look ridiculous.

Anyways... BTT

It seems it's hard to find a nice steering wheel too.
A good one is easy, but a beautiful one is hard.. racing wheels are well.. overkill,
those plastic sh1t I don't like very much.
leather or wood would be nice

should be an easier task than making a gearbox

OH **** NO! Raised lettering on tyres looks cool, hence the BFG reference; big fat white letters...

Tell me that doesn't look tough...

raised white letters

get some 4x4 tyres
all the tyres iv ever had fitted have these

bridgestone dueler all terrains
done 40k on them for 2mm of wear

but because they drive in sand up to the rim, all the white is worn off the letters

id have to go for a gearbox
but a wet pack one to suit a 13 to 30hp petrol or diesel with a toque converter

Well Wolfrace rims look cool,
the raised lettering.. would look great on a different car perhaps.
Something with a Nascar race trim for example;
but like it is on the picture, I don't like it much, no.
In short: "if it doesn't come with a number on the door..."
Sorry

Okay.. I must admit.. even without a number on that non-existent door, that would look extremely bad a$$

If you don't actually "need" deep dish caps, you can find them for 8" rims
(that's an eight inch rim on the back, isn't it?)

They're made for golf carts...(ebay #170811047815 for example)

And if you don't find good years, you will find Hoosier (even cooler lettering IMHO)
