can anyone list some good gocart suplys that will ship to the uk or in the uk it looks on the engin that the drive is taken off the cam shaft witch will spin at 1500 ish so what shuld i do about a clutch.
the cart is realy heavy i can just lift the rear with the battery and engin so with wheels shafts and the rest its going to be rather heavy.

1500 is pretty darn slow..... I'd say run some big (6+ inches, less slippage) pulleys (using a jack shaft) like on a mower and have a foot or hand clutch hooked to an idle pulley to give or take tension... you also need to remember that you need alot less gear down than a gas engine (runs at 3600 or so) but you'll have GOBS of torque to make up for it.

a good simple calculator to help get the gearing right.

http://www.idavette.net/tech/ratioc.htm

there arent many centrifugal clutches that will engage low enough to give you any throttle past on or off. you could adapt a motorcyle clutch, but that will cost big $$ and time and expertise. good luck.

ewww.... well all the same stays true, except I don't know about torque then.

there still aren't many good cent clutches for that low an RPM

That poor motorcycle, it needs some lovin.

I may use a bike (motorcycle) engine if i get it for free, which i may at the end of the year (school year).
The only problem with using a motorcycle engine is shifting.
Youd have to hook up some sort of lever to make it work, and then set up the clutch with your foot.
It may be hard to drive, but it would probbaly go as fast as the bike orogionally would (that is if you kept the same gearing and the same wheel size.
I think that i would make the wheels smaller, and also shrink the rear sprocket, so that you get about the same amount of gearing.)

Good luck!

all that bike needs is an engin and a rear wheel. the reason i need a new engin is that 2nd and 3rd ger went and 4th is going
