Default A do it yourself cable end that works. (Updated)

I tried just about everything there is on the hot side of things. Of course lead won't stick, and it's too soft anyways.
I tried a quick zap with a wire feed welder, and the cable just went up in smoke. I tried the one off of youtube where the guy melts silver solder into a hole drilled in wood and dunks the cable into the solder until it solidifies. I did it, but it failed a day later when my friend cranked the throttle on my bike.

The closest I got was wire feed wire, and oxy-acetylene. I got a nice solid ball on the end that might have worked, but it was crushable in a vise.

I tried hot glue. fail.
Someone said JB weld, but who wants to wait for that to setup? I want to ride!

My buddy and I were in my shop. 4:20 had come, and we spent a few minutes thinking this one through.
We finally found the answer!
It's so simple it's stupid, and it will never come off unless it's cut. Besides that, it fits the mikuni carb cable set up perfect!!!

Would ya like to know what it is?
Would ya?
Yes?

PM me for my address, send $4.95 and a self addressed stamped envelope, and you will know the answer to life, the universe and everything when it comes to installing your own cable end!!!

Or...You could wait until tomorrow, when I post a free "how to do it" video.

Mail now, or stay tuned!!!
Or watch now.

You tied a knot in the end.

I had that same thought...but didn't want to say anything. It's either that...or something ridiculously complicated.

I had a problem with the line on my trimmer coming out of the head. The little toothed pawl in there wasn't grabbing the line and resisting the centrifugal force. I took that trimmer head apart a half dozen times trying to get it to function as it should. Finally just tied a knot in the line on the inside of the head. Works like a charm.

Did you clean, flux and tin the cable before using solder?
I have had the same problem with the ends, for them not to fray.... They need fluxing well.

Is this the guy and the method? Just wondering because the results seem to be quite effective. The second part at 6:30 is for a heavier duty cable end like we would use.

Applying heat will set it in just a few minutes, not hours.

Don't you just know if Joe and I got together for a day....civilization as we know it would cease to exsist....

I'm still wondering why he didn't use the mechanical rat trap behind him in this...could saved a step.

Just put cheese on the end...and a sign in rat language that says: "This way out." No crimpers needed...but you'd still need the pipe wrench.

I fondly refer to that as the club. When closing up the shop for the evening, I usually announce the night's specials. The mice love hearing what's for dinner.

It will probably be free ritz cracker night tonight.
