Default Wreck to Driver

This is #3 since 02/2019. $50 junker to a nice little ride. Really couldn't have completed it without the help, advice and support of the DIY Go Karts site. Thanks to all who commented. Keep the support up for us newbies!!

Gonna keep up other people's warnings, harber freight wheels litterally fall apart. Dangerous. My friend had them and the hub broke and the wheel fell off as he was going down the street.

Otherwise looks really good. Good job!

I was gonna comment on the harbor freight tires also. It’s a fun hobby and much cheaper than working on old cars. Plus you can finish them in a reasonable amount of time. Is that an old Carter?

Me three. Harbor Freight does not sell ANY wheels suitable for go karts. Those are dolly/hand truck wheels only.

But I love seeing an accident waiting to happen.

I think you're right Kentucky, that looks to be a Carter Bros. kart. Very similar in construction to Ken-Bar.

I like the kart man, looks great. It's actually my style. But those wheels gotta go. I can personally tell you as a gokart crash survivor that these things can dish out some serious pain if you get in a wreck.

I think Hellion watches my posts just to see when I'm gonna crash again.

Thanks for the warnings, I have two BMI wheels in the mail (with the new hubs). Notice taken.

The other problem with harbor freight wheels is if the hubs DO manage to hold together, the tires will be completely bald after about a mile on anything but grass. They're not real rubber, but rather some crappy stretchy foamy vinyl type material, and not remotely symmetrical. Many years ago, I bought a pair to throw on a cobbled together junkyard kart since the original tires were disintegrated from dry rot. The hubs broke in the first corner, so I robbed the tires off them and put them on the original go kart wheels. Bald in less than a mile, popped in less than 2.

You know that thing would look sweet with a torque converter and some racing tires on it!

Looks good...

I would like to add however.... You might want to unplug the low oil sensor... Itll shut off when you do hard turns and over some bumps...

Default 3 ready to go!

Project cart #3 is done! Replaced all 4 hubs, tires, 5" rims, Predator 212 ($25.00!!) and it runs great. Thanks again to all who opined about the H/F tires (really, thanks!). BMI had everything I needed to make it whole and safe as well.
I've rebuilt 3 carts since 02/19 and it's been frustrating, educational but most of all, fun. Couldn't have done it without the input from DYI's membership. My grandson (and I) will have a ball!! Keep on carting!!

Forgot to add: red cart is a Manco, the black cart is a Ken-Bar Streaker; the blue is a Carter.

We should assist you on ID’ing what models they are too. Maybe put a homemade sticker (from label machine?) on the frame somewhere.

We must help end the epidemic of unknown karts!

A "Ken-Bar Streaker" is akin to "Ford Mustang", but Ford Mustang what?

GT?
GL?
LX?
GLX?
SVO?
Cobra?
Mach 1?
GT-350?
Cobra R?
Boss 302?
Boss 429?
Turbo GT?

Default Ken-Bar ID

Here's a pic of the original sticker from the Ken-Bar, I don't have any other info on the cart. If anyone can further define which cart it is/was I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Well, simply putting everything somewhat in order, it's a Ken-Bar Streaker Pace Setter, Model STA 9, serial number 106161.
Bueno?(I can't find those little Spanish upside down punctuation marks.....)
