It's gotten to the point with CL where I've just started putting "call (#), absolutely no texts or emails, if the ad is up I still have it, cash only" etc etc. That way I don't even have to bother weeding through emails for BS or dealing with jokers that want to text me.
Seems like I had much better luck with CL back when the economy was worse.

i had put email, call, and text just to try to give people more options. but the only emails i have ever gotten were scammers

i've preferred text because its more convenient and ive never had problems before

i don't like giving out my number because of all the idiots in the area. i know there is even a lot of people can barely speak English that want me to give it to them for nothing.

just last night i listed a bike for $50. i got a email from some idiot about it that said "30$" and that was it. i e-mailed the guy back "$60". the bike needs a bit of work but if i don't $50 for it i would just keep it, fix it and drive it. only needs about $10 in parts, some grease and good cleaning and it could probably be worth $100 easily.

i have about $100 into the mini bike, and when i first got it, i traded it for a kart i bought for about $50. so anyone asking $150 for it i just say no. its definitely worth at least $200. i also have a lot of work into it, between rebuilding/ modding the engine and installing the motor mount, new tires, cleaning it up etc.

the only reason im selling it is because i need cash to build my dirt bike.

i have enough cash to do the next 1-2 weeks of work on the dirt bike. after that i hope it gets sold... anxious to get the dirt bike together and go ride

Simple trick: You want $200, advertise it for $250. Buyers will talk you down & you'll end up with your $200

Thats what I do when I sell things on Gumtree. All the clowns out there always want to get whatever you are selling for cheaper than the advertised price

Put the word trade in your add. Then trade up to something that will sale fast worth more money.

The reason I have so many trikes and dirtbikes is for trade bait. In this economy people do not have cash as much. People will trade you stuff worth much more money to get something they really want.

Basicaly I always add trade in my listings. You never know if a person will offer you something double or even tripple in price.

This is a bit off to me, put out an add for 300 dollars (if you want to keep dealing with creaiglist). Then go get a full sized posterboard from your nearest store, write awesome mini-bike 300 dollars, RUNS. Go to a parking lot, put it in the bed of your truck with the sign where ppl can see it from a street corner. You display riding the bike yourself and then once its sold you drive off and never see it again. No exchanging numbers. It shouldn't take more than an hour on a weekend at a busy store.

At least you managed to have some money for it, well done.
I don't use CL since I live in europe, but there is another place just like CL that some of you may know, I'm talking about OLX.
This place is so full of bs people wanting to get your stuff like it was for free, and since it has a comment section for every ad many people try to put off possible interested buyers with stupid comments like "you're a sob!!! who ever buys this s**t is a total retard!!!" - it's just very demotivating from a honnest seller pov...
