Sandblasting, then a good coat of primer and epoxy paint.

You should be able to buy an Alexander Reynolds
sticker for it somewhere online to show people
what brand it is after it's finished.

....and maybe even a repop vintage clutch cover.

Progress as of today, waiting on tires/tubes and handlebars. These were bent.

Love it...! you have a very lucky son. I wish my dad had done that for me when I was 8

But over the pond here in the UK minibikes are very very rare. Ive only ever seen one or two for a lot of money and it wasn't even complete

Yeah, my dad never did this kind of stuff for me either. I am self taught on just about everything. Welding, machining parts, general fabrication, structures, etc.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I will get final build pictures in a week or two.

Went another route with the bars. The old ones were like ape hangars on my son. So I cut the bars down and made a mount plate to weld them on. Oh, I also fabricated a clutch cover since the ones I saw online and in eBay didn't quite catch my eye.

Thanks guys. I couldn't let him get his foot caught in the chain. I had a buddy way back in school that got his foot caught in a bike chain (riding in flip flops) and he lost his big toe, and two of the smaller ones. He couldn't wear flip flops after that.

All finished unless I find an Alexander Reynolds sticker for it.
