Default Welder Brands.

Hey guys, im looking to get a welder. I want a gas mig welder, no flux. I understand they are a bit More costly. I plan on buying a used one off of craigslist. Im only 14 and i just blew $2000 on my hard earned working money on a quad. (WELL WORTH IT)
That means im low in the bank. So i need to work somore cash up. Now to get to the point i have welded a few times so i dont need the best welder i plan on using it for frame repair or building light projects (gokarts, minibikes, ect.). It dosent need to be large just to get it done. I know nothing about brands or quality. I dont need the best and i dont want garbage. I want somthing in the middle or in between ok and the best. What brands do you guys suggest?

Thanks.

A good (reasonably new) Hobart, Miller, or Lincoln GMAW welder will be exactly what your looking for. Just keep searching craigslist for a few months and you will find something. If you're willing to look at new welders check out northerntool.com and look at their Hobart welders.

One thing I will strongly suggest is that you talk to your local welding supply store. They can give you some good suggestions, and possibly make a package deal for you.

Yeah go and check your local Craigslist. When I went to my local welding supply store their cheapest welder was £500! That's about $800 and for a 13 year old that's a hell of a lot. So I just settled with one of these http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...00e-mig-welder do you have Clarke in America?

I bought a new hobart setup about a month ago. I went with the 190 and glad I did, great machine. But, I've heard great things about the Hobart 140 also. Northern tool had it on sale for $499 with free shipping. You'd still have to buy the gas from your local supply shop, mine ran me $200. Happy welding.
