I say this as the look of the shaft isnt right.. it looks like its way bigger than it should be... So...

The gas leak comes from the carb leaking back into the crankcase.

Also try touching a candle stub to the end of the sleeve over the shaft, while hot... this help to break the seal.... The wax will wick in the joint...

In all of my sprockets on my bike.. They are of this verity..
It allows you to custom tailor a sprocket and shaft size...

No cutting keyway, also itll fit the shaft...
