If it is leaking.. you forgot to shut off the gas.. the crank case is full of gas/oil...

The only problem with that, it is the engine doesnt produce a large amount of power... So idleing with the starter/geny will induce a large amount of drag, hampering performance....

A relatively aggressive grit worked for me....80 I think...

Get yourself a cheap ebay Inductive Tachometer..
They range in price.. but usually less than $20.
It wraps around the sparkplug wire, and uses a battery(get the replaceable version).

I'm surprised it had bearings..
I used a good set I found, cleaned the cups and re lubed caged race...

for the most part there isnt any bolt on kits... Kinda an odd ball engine for that...
A Honda type will have that weak charge coils.. but in the end, better off with pull start and good batteries...

You'll most likely need to drill and re jet accordingly to the plug test, with the Honda type...

Go to a tool rental place or lawn mower shop, ask if they have a bunch of carb bits in the junk box that you might be...

Obviously getting the two in sync will be the greatest challenge, aswell as having the correct firing position of the opposite...

I think a few people here used the dip on the front of the motor; the rear fill plug, they tighten it properly, then cut off the top to clear the bearing boss buttresses....

As for the bracketry.....
