25 governed with a clutch is about the best you can get.

Ungoverned at 5000 rpm would be near 35, but you usually need to up the jet size and open up the exhaust to see the real gains.

No industrial type engine will bolt to that.

Yeah, it's definitely set up for a small 2 stroke type engine. Probably a pinion or worm gear setup on there.

I hate to say it but it's...

Because they use motors designed for the purpose and large lithium ion battery packs.

The weight and rolling drag of a scooter demands far less power than a go kart.

They only go 10-15mph, and...

Free motor doesn't mean good motor.

The way you're going about this is like being given a free iPhone charger and trying to build an iPhone out of broken walkie talkies just for the sake of using...

It REALLY depends on the motor. 35 ft/lb from a 2 HP motor at 350 rpm sounds a bit unlikely to me unless it's got a built in gear reduction.

Your math on the axle rpm sounds right though.

Could you switch to a backplate torque converter and use the existing jackshaft for a second stage of gear reduction instead of the driven pulley? You'd be able to maintain a lot more ground...

Anywhoo...

Don't get a smaller sprocket. 25-30 is about the best you're gonna get without burning up a clutch.

Switch to a Tav2 and your mid to high 30s goal is more achievable. A SLIGHTLY...

All epa compliant engines are like that to my knowledge.

It's to make it so the engine is locked in at the lowest emission mixture possible (in theory), even at the expense of power and engine...

Not really. That's beyond the design rating of a 40 series. If you were gentle on it it would probably be fine, but who's gonna take it easy on a 20hp go kart, right?

I'd be concerned that even the empty tongue weight on an 18' car hauler would be more than your average go kart axle and suspension will take.

I use my garden tractor. It's plenty beefy.

Treadmills usually use permanent magnet DC motors because a variable speed DC drive is WAY cheaper than a variable frequency AC drive.

You'd need probably a 12-15:1 gear ratio to make it run, and it wouldn't be real fast at just 1600 watts, when you consider the kart, rider, and batteries.

And 10: 12v batteries in series. A...
