Did you try that?

To me, it's gold! (eBay find)

I'd thought I'd share my find, maybe revive some lost hopes with it.

Well I was searching eBay for an engine for my on-going minichopper project, and, to me, I hit go-kart gold (I'm planning to...

I think I may have come up with a working multi-gear transmission

Holy crap.

Now I never said it would be cheap, but I think I may have it!

Ok, to simplify things and not confuse y'all, think of this:

How big of an engine is that? It doesn't look like it'd be strong enough to push that think along very fast.

http://www.nextag.com/12-volt-air-pump/search-html

Getting a 12v or whatever pump would be easier. I'd hate to have to supply enough batteries for a 120v wall outlet pump. Cordless all the way :P

Off-roading. If you have only one wheel being powered and you get stuck and that's the wheel that can't move, well SOL. But if each wheel has an engine of it's own, an axle of it's own, then you can...

2 engines, one per wheel?

Would this be possible? I was thinking about go kart variations and trying to get more power, when I thought of putting a small engine (40-50cc) to drive one rear wheel, and another identical to...

You should be able to not only buy the new clutch but also some clutch springs; mix-matching the springs yield different engagement speeds.

((5000rpm/gear ratio) * 60 * (10 * 3.14)) / (5280 * 12)

You're going to need a pretty high gear ratio. I put the gear ratio in at 1(drive):5(driven) and got a theoretical top speed of 30mph....

mfgsupply.com, gokartsnminibikeparts.com, mrfabrication.com I don't know about quality for them. I got my minichopper rear wheel from gokartnminibikeparts.com and the bearings on it work well.

The gear setup seems a little confusing. Maybe it's your wording, or that it's 3 in the morning, but yes, changing the gear ratios is about the only way to make karts go faster, unless you want to...

Alum. can't be welded? I'm pretty sure most metals can be welded.

And yeah, copper and alum tubing is more malleable than steel pipe, but it didn't seem to be so much so that a copper/alum frame...

I know robert's bike was made of 3/4" pipe, but i don't have access to a pipe bender, so tubing is my only way.

My question is, would 1/2" (or 3/4") alum. tubing work, or would it not be strong...

If you're interested, I saw some go-kart turbos on ebay, there are either 2 or 3 different models: one for 125cc, one for 50cc-99cc, and I think that's it, but there may be another one. It'll run ya...
