I'd say that both ends of the cable need tweaking, you want the inner cable to run as straight out of the end of the sheathing as possible. Nice and smooth.

Yup, the only issue that might arise out of removing it completely is that the throttle *might* be able to go far enough to bind/stick, depending on how yours is made/bent at the factory.
