I tried a spring "in-between" the pedal & thumb...

I tried a spring "in-between" the pedal & thumb throttle
...but, it was still kinda "floppy"

So, I bent a couple of pieces of 1/4" rod into a U shape
...to use as/for "pedal stops" :thumbsup:

I made the mounting bracket on the pedal a bit...

I made the mounting bracket on the pedal a bit "off set" to align with the thumb throttle :thumbsup:

This also, helps to keep the "linkage assembly" further, off to the side
…& "outta harms...

I think they "grounded" the spark plug wire, on them old engines, to "shut 'em off" :thumbsup:

Many times it was just a bent piece of metal, bolted to the engine , that was pushed against the end...
