I just removed the 5/8 jackshaft from the old 40D driven pulley with much effort. The 3/16 key had somewhat embedded itself into the shaft (slightly) and the sprocket key did so much that part of...

Thanks! I will beef it up. I was thinking of mounting the sleeve to a 1/4" flat plate for lower center if gravity anyhow.

Setup

It's the stock manco dingo 388 shaft and plate. The sprocket is opposite side from the pulley. Bearings are close to the pulley and sprocket.

Question about 8hp Briggs performance curves

I've got a 190402 series 8hp flathead from the late 80s early 90s. It's the 318.5cc rated at 8hp (rpm unknown, probably 3500?) and 12.7ft-lb @ 2500rpm. I would really like to see the curves if...

Tire chains for manco dingo

The chains are for a car: $40 cheapos from Walmart cut to length. They work well and fit snug between the knobs if the tire knobs are worn down a bit. Otherwise I would try to skew them to route...

Ports

Dremel with flex shaft and end-mill works well. Finish with grind cone bit, then sand. Then put valves back in.

Steering stop

I welded flange nuts to the top of the steering spindles and now I can thread a bolt and jam nut for limiting the steering. This is necessary for the larger polaris scramble tires. The final hub...

I drove it around with the new 40 series and it is definatly more powerful and faster than with the stock 30 series. It won't chirp on concrete, but to get the 30 series to launch like that I had to...

Comet 40 jackshaft done.

I finally got around to fabbing the jackshaft bracket. The motor sits on a 1/4" steel plate for a low center of gravity. Cut 3 large holes in the center to save some mass. I used a 16" 5/8...
