Doc's Diesel Weasel
1 Attachment(s)
Hi, folks!

Been a long time since I was active here. I took a bit of a break, focused on some other stuff, got my bee-hind kicked by life... Etc.

I just thought I'd share this recent creation with you all. I call it the "Diesel Weasel- Rat Rod Mini Mow Kart"

Long story kept exceptionally short, it started life as a mid 1960's mini-class riding mower. I stripped it down, did some frame work, shoehorned a chinese clone of a Yanmar L100 10hp diesel into it, with a Comet 40 CVT, and a 1" live axle.

I'll post the video here, and come back and drop some more details and some still images, later. Nice to see ya!
EDIT- Been so long, I've forgotten how to properly embed video. Dang.

Well, heck... Just click the link. Here's a pic to go with...

That thing is so Cool. Now i am Disappointed there was no Build thread here!

Doc Sprocket 11-05-2016 07:41 PM

Thanks for that. I kinda documented my progress (in stages) on my youtube channel.

Saw a couple of those vids not long ago. I got a good laugh at your coil fuel line.

Surprised it almost did 80km/h (50mph roughly).

Sweet diesel. I've wondered about these smaller ones.

chancer 11-05-2016 10:40 PM

Ha! I thought that was MPH! 70!!! LOL

Still cool Kart

Kartorbust 11-05-2016 10:40 PM

It's a Chinese copy of the L100N Yanmar 10hp. I've heard mixed reviews on them. Outside of Doc here, only one other guy on YouTube has one that has videos on it for the last few years, Fearless Front. He put one in a Sears Suburban garden tractor as an ATV/mud runner. Far as I can tell by his newer videos on it, it's still going strong.

Hot diggity daffodil! Is that the engine back firing or did you do something for the flames?

itsid 11-06-2016 06:43 PM

LOVE it!

PS excuse me.. I'll head to the aforementioned yt-channel and watch some videos then ;)

No backfiring! That is an engineered flamethrower system. I've only seen a precious few examples of a flamethrower exhaust on an OPE engine project like a go kart or mini bike, and those are gasoline engines. I think I may have the first on a diesel.

So I'm guessing propane and a sparkplug?

Wrong- but a decent enough guess! :sifone:

chancer 11-06-2016 07:13 PM

That thing is sweet. But still to go through all that and not have had us be a part of it...
I declare we take away your Moderator Status.:lolgoku:
Poor Form.

Awesome build Chris. Its good to see you back

Hellion 11-06-2016 11:29 PM

This is just beyond fantastic!

You got the whole amalgamation going on; hot rods, rockabilly, the patina fetish as influences. Then we have the "Old Lawn Tractor" fad, and turned go kart.

And we have the exalted Diesel engine. Perfect... and I haven't even watched the video yet.

Roll on sir.! It pees fire!

mckutzy 11-07-2016 11:22 AM
