Ok the weather finally is in the 40's so I can start on the goods. :) I got my new engine from harbor freight that blue 6.5 and of course the first thing I do when I take it out of the box is break it down. I am planning on painting the Gas tank and side the same color of the kart. ok off topic sorry just excited to start this project.

I see that the clutches normally come with 11 to 12 teeth. This kart will be for my little girls and I in no way want them the misses would KILL ME :2guns: if this goes too fast :devil2: . Where I live there are no fences and every one has about 2 achers so there is plenty of room to run but it is all grass. Once I saw a 7 tooth that I think was for the lower tork I need for running on the grass. Am I correct in the less teeth on the clutch gives me more tork? The tires are 8 inch. I cannot find a smaller tooth clutch any where anymore?

Thanks for all your help. :cheers2:

Its WAY easier to ajust the size of the sprocket on the axle instead of clutches. Going from 11-12 teeth to 9 will be very un-noticible. Now the probelem is you have to put a BIG sprocket on the axle. But your wheels are only 8 inches tall. Your going to HAVE to run a jackshaft system so you can pull down the size of the gear on the axle.

Or just put a 2x4 block under the pedal so you cant get going too fast. :D

LOL I hope that was a joke ineed2fly, A throttle stop is always an option but you loose torque big time!

Thanks for the reply. from the looks of it I will just put it together and see how fast it really goes through the grass.

I was planning on stripping and a total repaint but with how busy I am I know it would be the end of summer till it happens so I started plting it back together today. all I need is a clutch and a new throtel cable and I will have a few movies :)

I know it is not much but here is some pics..

Thanks for all the info....

why not try and use the gearing on the cart? looks like its a bigger sproket. I would think you could find a 10 tooth slutch some where. heres one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10-tooth-Go-Kart-Mini-Bike-Clutch_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46092QQihZ018QQi temZ280209664628QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Is his sprocket #35 or 40/41?
