I don't think it would make a kart... but this page http://www.kartbuilding.net/engines/chainsaw.htm seems to think so. Seems to me that the RPMs would be different.. Thoughts?

I've seen some tiny go karts what would seat a kid that seem to use chainsaw-sized engines. I'm sure with the proper gearing you could get it to move you around.

yea, with some of those monster chain saws geared just right, it would be a pretty slick pit kart at the track :D

IF (big if) I were to power a kart with a saw engine I wouldn't go smaller than this. See specs on right side of page.

Top end rpm is about 11,000 +/-.
I would consider this IF (big if again) I was Bill Gates.
See my antique kart engines post. These engines started life powering chainsaws and evolved into what's pictured.
