Newbie question. What does a drive axle, wheel, hub, and disk brake look like for a mini bike, what componenents are involved and do most mini bike wheels have zero offset?

most mini bike wheels have there own bearings and have a fixed axle.
my bike has a drum brake as apposed to a disc, and sprocket built in [pic]
i used my own wheels on my bike, not the ones that northern tool sell [ie. different mouthing holes] so i had to drill all new holes and put heaps of washer in there but in the end it was all good.

I intend to use a 12 inch ATV wheel and both the front and back wheels will be driven. So are you saying that I need a fixed axle which the wheel sprocket and brake turn on? I know this seems a silly question but this is going to be my first build. Not exactly a mini-bike, it will be a full size off road motorcycle but the same building principles should apply. The welding and fabrication is no problem for me, its the way the wheels go together that i'm having the most problem with.

This is the Rokon, this is what I'm trying to simulate, which I'm going to greatly simplify the drive system. Just in case you were curious.

how does it work i though of having a vertical shaft and have the [pully be on a perfect piviot point making no difference in tention.

the way the rokon works is with a fairly complex drive to a gear box over the front wheel. I intend to simplify that with a single belt, custom lenght to a fixed pully over the front wheel dropping down with another belt to a drive pully. The drive belt will twist with the tire and wheel. In answer to your post, if I understand your question, there will be a pully on a perfect pivot that does not change angles with the handlebars.

right, and just have 2 45 degree gears to take the vertical power into horizontal, i didnt think anyone would understand that terrible description but you got it. for me i need to get a job first before i can start anything close to that.
