36 vs 48 volt?

Plan on a 1000w scooter motor. The question i have is if i go with either 36 or 48 volt. I have found that i can get 3 18ah batteries for the same price as 4 12ah batteries. Which batteries would i get more run time out of and what would be better for the motor?

Let's do some quick math here....
36V @ 18Ah = 684Wh
48V @ 12Ah = 576Wh

So the 36V option will give you a little longer run time, but either one you choose, will be
fine for the motor.
