gear reduction problem

I have a Honda gx 160 engine with a 6:1 gear reduction. I want to build a go-kart from my kids and need some help. I was going to just remove the reduction from the output shaft but the output shaft has teeth cut in it and is a part of the reduction unit. I am using parts from Northern tool so any suggestions or info would be greatly appriecated. :confused:

from the sound of it, you might need a new crank. but i saw on a site someware that you can get the side cover with out the gear redu. and it might jus slide on and boom your done.

maybe use that, but use a jackshaft and gear it back up?
