hi, from pittsburgh. i started this bar-stool kart about 3 days ago. what i have so far is a frame and a real big motor. the frame is 1.25 1/8 in tubing. the motor is a honda 750cc off of a honda cb750f, that was getting in the way. my wife told me to do something with the bike so i said ok. i have some pictures of progress so far. the first pic is the frame in small frame jig.second is finding steering geometry. the third is what will be sitting under the bar-stool. by the way frame is not tacked together at this point , it's just sitting in the jig.

the axle in the picture is aluminum and just for mock-up i'll be using a 1.25 cro-moly for the final build.

well i was down in the garage for a little bit tonight, got the frame tacked together.also removed the motor from the bike frame,it's sitting on the floor.the motors pretty heavy,i'll have to reinforce the frame in a few areas.also started designing the motor mounts,i hope to have the motor on the frame this weekend. i'll also have some new pictures as well.

i know of some people who have golf carts that they put motorcycle engines in them, they use a durablue 250r axle which i think is around $600 and that pretty much the only axle thatll stand up to the power,u might be ok with a different axle because the stool is light, but i think it would be good to get an axle off of an ATV with a bigger engine.

this after-noon i got the motor sitting on the frame and it reminds me of an Ed Roth picture. you know the Rat Fink guy.heres some pictures . and about the axle question they actually use the same type of set-up on hill climb cars used at pikes peak. see.

today i started to try and figure out the bar-stool placement. and also worked on the motor mounts. and also started to come up with an exhaust. the concern with the motor mounts is chain tension. so i came up with a sliding rear axle. for the exhaust, probably just a header. the bar-stool situation is a little different, the motor is so wide and sooo long, part of the stool will be mounted to the frame and the other part to the valve cover.
