I got an old school 8 horse Briggs with an updraft float bowl pos. What's a quick, cheap replacement careuretor can I bolt on her?

The updraft is not a POS for starters. Anything with a venturi(the carbs smallest point) equal to the intake valve size will do fine, an accelerator pump(4 stroke dirtbike carbs) is nice and probably why you think the updraft sucks(stumble off idle).

Tell me more. I've always had trouble with updrafts while never any with the tank mounted kinds. I've learned to hate sticky needle valves and soggy floats!
