Straight pipe

Looking at getting a go kart.
I found one that has a 5hp tecumseh engine on it.
I want my first mod to be a simple straight pipe.

How many guys have a straight pipe on there kart?
I don't care how loud it is, I drive a open header V8 everyday. ;)

nice what kinda truck you got. um would a straight pipe add more torque or hp.. cuz im looking to build and exhaust AND i need to know what design will have the best of both torque and hp!!!

well if you do get it, and dont care particularly about looks, that one will most likely have a threaded exhaust port. until you make engine mods (inside the block kind), simply just thread some pipe in any direction you want. i have a 1 foot piece then a 90 elbow toward the ground, a 4 inch then a 90 elbow with a small reduction to it so theres still a little back pressure, just encase it wants to be finicky when starting :D

I just want to have a completely straight pipe, although I will probably have one 90 degree bend towards the ground.

A threaded port would be sweet, because then I wouldn't have to weld a flange onto the pipe.

when you said backpressure..just in case it gets finicky when starting..do you need back pressur??
