Mac.... I got a 13in Macbook pro for xmas. If you're into media/movie editing/music/photos (which I am) of any sort it's the best out there. Every movie you see in the theater is created on a mac. It's the best computer Ive worked on so far. I'm in a radio class in school. When we pre-record a show, or make commercials it's all made up on GarageBand.
And the trackpad really is amazing. The only time you really need to click on anything on the screen is when you want to select something. Scrolling/going back and forward through pages are all multi touch functions on it.

yay! more amazing mac users lol! NJOHC whats your macbook pro got for hardware? my 15" macbook pro has 4 GB of ram, a 2.93 ghz processor, a 320gb hard drive at 7200RPM! and i totally agree with your statement btw :D

$230 Toshiba from Best Buy..
show me a MAC that can compare..
NJOHC
01-09-2010, 12:45 PM
It has 4gb of ram and 250gb HD. And whatever processor goes with that combo. Everything is basically just a step up from the base model. I'm going to get more ram eventually, but it's good for now. The only thing I've seen from apple that I'm disappointed in are their in-ear headphones I just bought. For 80$ they have no freakin bass at all. Im going to see if best buy will take them back because I cant stand them! lol
show me a MAC that can compare..
Price wise there isn't one....but you get what you pay for. If it's something somebody cant afford Im not bashing what they own at all. With a Mac you pay partially for the branding and partially for the technology. But everything is American designed that comes from apple. And Im willing to pay a little more if it's american and works.
The headphones though, were def not worth it lol. Invest in Sony if you want some good in ear headphones. They're half the price too.

01-09-2010, 12:46 PM
um that has what a single core processor and maybe 1 gb of ram lol plus an integrated video card lmao a mac mini beats that lol
bajagokart
01-09-2010, 12:48 PM
lol i think the biggest processor in the 13" are 2.5 ghz i believe and the most ram you can get is 4 gb sorry to burst your bubble lol if you want 8 gb of ram you need to up to a 15" model, and on a mac 4 gb of ram runs like 12 on a pc lol ive never actually tried their headphones so i wouldnt know, i absolutely hate there mighty mouses tho, the worst product they have ever made by far

All MAC has done is made their operating system more user friendly, more "slim" (compare a iPhone with a similarly priced Windows Mobile phone), more "sexy", and perform all that in a underpowered computer.
Video editing = PC. After Effects, Vegas, vocalizers and stuffletts, for the win.
I'm packing a Q6600 @ 2.4GHz (65nm :(), Gigabyte P43, DDR2-1066 4GB in dual channel @ 4-4-4-12, Rosewill LGA775 4 pin coola, HD4870 512MB, and a little 160GB HDD
EDIT: All powered by a $30 600W PSU with 39A @ 12v rail.

i have a custom tower with the new intel core i7 quad, running it at 2.66 Ghz right now and i have 8 gb of ram and 2 ATi 4870 x2's. Im currently running windows 7 and to be honest i hate it just as much as vista. I love my mac because it is sooooo much more stable and works wayyy more efficiently than anything windows can put out. Mac's dont get viruses but they can host them. Pc gets viruses and hosts them. hmmm im pretty sure apple is still the better company here. My mac runs better than my custom built tower with way better hardware lol

Apple does not design and produce their products in America. Foxconn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn) is one of their main manufacturers and R&D partners. Foxconn is responsible for the Mac mini, the iPod and the iPhone, they're most certainly not American.
You might remember this company from not too long ago. They got some less-than-good press for having one of their employees mysteriously disappear. This happens after he lost track of one of the prototypes of a future generation iPhone for which he was responsible--this was not his first time losing a prototype.
bajagokart

i know that, no company that im aware of does EVERYTHING on there own, Apple however DOES design there computers! they just get Foxconn to manufacture them in China

I didnt say produce, I said design lol It says inside the boxes I've opened so far (mac, earphones, ipods) "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China". Im not trying to argue at all, nor am I out to bash anything. I'd just rather invest in something that has some American influence in it. As far as I know they're a mostly American company.
I wasnt aware about the whole employee deal. Thanks for sharing though.

01-09-2010, 06:34 PM
Yeah, the missing employee got thrown out of hand. Last I heard, still no word on what happened to the guy.
I have just never really had the opportunity to sit and use a Mac. That, and I've got 12 years experience developing software under windows and/or linux platforms. Mostly because I couldn't afford more than one machine for a long time, and the machine I owned had to work with the rest of my company. That, and I am also a blackberry owner... again because I can develop for it (java... which works on lots of platforms including Windows and Linux)
I know that apples are, in general, a bit snappier than their PC counterparts, but that also changed a little when Intel started designing their processors. And I have a friend who swears by them for all of his graphics designing and video editing... But I have photoshop also....
So its really a preference thing... Unless you're a gamer...
bajagokart
01-09-2010, 06:48 PM
i will agree with you on that statement, PC's are a gaming platform no question, but i have heard about people liking OS X wayy more for graphic applications and especially media related things like video and recording sound

If you get Viruses, either you don't have Avast (the FREE version), or you watch too much porn ;)
I have had absolutely NO crashes in Vista - only one BSOD, which was the first time I built the PC and the installation was giving my problems.
1 1/2 years and running strong. "Vista sucks" is a lie. It's terrific.

I just have one question.
Who the hell cares? I use my computer for email/facebook/a couple forums/ and looking specs up and such. I dont see how it matters much unless your like a gamer or a serious video editor or something. Weather its a PC or a Mac, it gets you to the same website, or downloads the same song...
I do have a Mac, its good in some ways, bad in others. I like that i cant get viruses from limewire and such, but It hates youtube videos and that type of thing.
PC vs Mac is like Chevy vs ford, or Arctic Cat vs Polaris, the argument will never end, and both brands have their ups and downs, nothing is perfect.

Now days there is very little different between "Mac" hardware and "PC" hardware. The only main difference now is the OS. I've never tried a Mac OS and never want to. As I can build my own PC and don't need a company to build one in a trendy case for me. I'd much rather have a ATX case that has some space to work in.
I have a Alienware M17 Laptop. 2.4ghz dual core intel. 320 GB HD 7200rpm. 4GB DDR3 1064. Dual 3870 Ati Radeons 512mb each. Running Windows 7.

Who said I was goin to invest in stock dude I'm not that stupid... I meant invest in real estate buddy. Buy a foreclosed home fix it up and rent it out or split it into two apartments and rent them out. That's a steady income of $900-2000 a month on just one house now imagine two or three 4-6k a month that's more then enough income to live off of.

A few years ago, when I was still in my teens, I was a die hard PC fan. I still am, in fact. With the changes Apple has made in the past few years, the hardware difference is almost non-existent now. This PC vs Mac argument basically just boils down to which software you prefer. I have 4 PCs, and 1 Mac. The Mac has OS X, and the PCs have XP on 2, and the other 2 are Linux file servers. To be perfectly honest, I much prefer the look and feel of XP, and that it is so readily compatible with pretty much anything else out there. I've used the Mac for about a year now, and I still can't force myself to use it over any of my PCs for pretty much any reason anymore. I just plain don't like it. If you happen to be a Mac fanboy that likes them, that's perfectly fine also.

I like them for what they are and how they perform, not because they have an apple logo that lights up when you use it that makes you look cool.
