hello all ! I am new to this kind of thing but I have done alot of research before I got started so I hope I am doing things right. I work for a steel supplier so getting tubing and plate steel and other stuff I may need is pretty easy and free sometimes if it is scrap. I am starting to fabricate the frame and the forks I made from parts of a front end of an old bicycle which I got the idea from this site (thanks diy). My engine is a5hp briggs I got from a friend from an old snowblower that had other issues so he let me have for nothing. Which is what I have questions about the governor it is a mechanical governor the one that spins off the camshaft can these be disconnected to get more power or is that not a wise thing to do so if anyone can answer this for me i would apprecite it. Thanks. Will try to post pics later after I get a little further on the fabrication.

All I'm going to say is if you decide to disconnect the governor, remove the small gear inside. They could break and come apart at high speed and that would damage the motor.
