Hey im a newbie here and was wondering if a 1" dia. piece of pipe roughly 5" long is enough back pressure to prevent my motor from blowing up. It is a briggs and stratt. 2 horse. (i think)

okay, so im going to add a 30 degree piece to it and add a 8 inch pipe down wards for my header. the plan is to keep it short and sweet. my friends mini has a 4" then a small muffler, when it heats up and he revs the engine it produces a nice flame thrower effect. I want to do something like that just without a muffler. a reply would be great.

the muffler on my 3 horse is as long as the tank. 4 inches at max

that's a good quesiton -- i don't know the minimum length needed. I have seen many that are around 8", and they've seemed to work fine.
