Hello everyone, I was wondering if the solution to my problem is to drill out the carb jets on my Honda Clone GX-160 Engine? Because the problem that im having is that the first time i try to pull over the engine the engine doesn't fire unless i push down the gas pedal a little bit. i checked my throttle line and it doesn't bind or anything, and it operates smoothly. And when i adjust the carb screws it doesn't change the idle at all when the engine is running.
So should i drill out my jets on my carb? and were would a starting letter drill size be? Just to let you know it has a stock air cleaner and a stock carb.
Any help would be appreciated. :cheers2:

Your on the right track but i dont think drilling out the jets is the solution it does sound carb related so take the carb off and clean it then go from there because factory jet sizes wont keep the engine from starting none the less running.

Ok or if you want disconnect your spark plug wire and give it 6 pulls then take out the spark plug and see if it's wet

sounds like your idle gap is too little,

Sounds like your idle speed just needs to be a little faster. Are you sure you adjusted the idle speed screw? You might have been turning the Idle mixture screw that threads into the carbs main body. The Idle speed screw will be completly outside the carb and usualy has a spring around it. It simply acts as a (Idle) stop point for the little arm connected to the carburetors throttle shaft. Turning to the right should raise your Idle.
If you happen to have some bizarre carb w/o an idle speed adjustment screw (like mine) you may be able to raise its idle speed with some creative throttle cable/pedal adjustments or mods.
