Hello there. My kart has a B&S engine. I think the throttle linkage is missing a spring or something??? I can't find any diagrams to help me, but I need to see/know what is behind this picture.

The throttle cable moves the butterfly, which moves the butterfly, which moves the missing part, which pulls on the governor I assume. Right now, pushing the throttle does nothing to engine speed. Can somebody help me? Thx!

That plate - the one where the throttle cable hooks to the "butterfly". On the other side of that plate should be an arm that moves up and down when the throttle cable is worked. Is it there? That arm would have a spring connecting it to the governor. One of those parts is missing.

I was wondering if you could help me out by taking a picture of the other side of that throttle setup you have- where the governor is. I just got a cart from a 'jerry-rigger' and need to see what it is supposed to look like so I can get it all back together properly. I'll need to order parts incase you have a good site to order them from...

Why not just remove the governor and hook up the throttle straight to the carb?

id say somebody bypassed the gov without removing the internal parts of it

yea, so you might as well pull the internal gov

Excuse my ignorance, but it's been a long time since I've been inside a small engine. Why remove the internal parts of the gov? Do they tend to shrapnel inside the motor at too high of an RPM?

yea they can explode at just over 4000 rpm

I am actually having the same issues with the same engine. But I am also lost on the other controls and how they hook up. The choke and rev. all wires were taking off and I am unable to find pictures that show how it all hooks up.

thier should only be 1 wire, that's the kill wire. Is this engine on a kart? if so just pull the gov and hook throttle directly to carb

Probably has an alternator for starter and/or lights.
