I'm working on some software to display for sale items a little neater. Please check the link http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/sr_classifieds.php and let me know pros, and cons!

One specific question is: if you can't "talk" in the thread, is that better or worse? ie, questions can only be emailed or PM'd, not simply asked in the thread.

I really like the feedback idea, not talking isn't horrible as long as the user can edit and delete the ad at any time.

for sale / looking to buy is what's available now. I'm not totally impressed with it, I kinda like the chaos of just posting a message in the forum (like craigslist)

One problem with not being able to post on ads: Is when one potental buyer pm's the seller to pry all the necessary info many sellers tend to leave out... then no one else will get the benefit of the added info.

I dig the craigslist ad style too but whats the problem with sharing aditional info and possible scam concerns with some of the less experienced buyers here? Without this, they're pretty much left on their own. Some of us were trying to help out policing scam ads here and it seems like this rule would make that more difficult.

I think it works pretty well now, maybe just encourage those with nothing constructive to add, or pertinent questions, to please refrain from posting in the thread. :cool:

could you do somehing like ebay, where you can say " show message on listing" kinda thing, or is that not an option?
the current for sale section is ok, but i think if we stick with that, we need a really solid set of rules.
edit: just found the new stickied post in the for sale section, that should possibly help prevent scams.

I just tested it out also ... those ideas are all good ... I would like it if when the user mouses over the picture it would display a larger view of the picture so peopl see more detail.
