Okay so Im trying to find out if I can use a lawn mower engine for my kart. It's obviously not a vertical shaft. I dont know much about mechanics but I can get one!

You mean like a V-twin? Yup you can. But its a matter of finding a torque converter now that can hold up to the power! lol Its going to become a real PITA to do that now.
