does anyone have any tutorial or tips on making a gas tank out of sheet metal? it doesnt have to be functional it just has to look like a gas tank.:D

If it doesn't have to be functional, then couldn't it just look however you wanted it to? :confused:

I've never made a gas tank but I figure one way would be to roll a piece of sheet metal and weld the seam so you have a cylinder and then weld some round pieces to the open ends. Or you can do something like a box with two pieces that look like square c's or something like: [ and have them form a box and weld the edges together like I drew here using my 1337 h4x0r paint skills:

make it outa wood and cover it with filler to get it smoth then paint it

wood would be kind of hard to bend lol. i Heard u can make a negative out of wood and shape my tank around that, but it looks hard.

Try this, Get some thick conduit put some caps on the end and then use a smaller peice for the inlet. Drill a hole in the top and weld your inlet in.

thanks, i should try that, my school is to garbage to buy a roller or a tube bender.

No problem, just remember dont set the welder to hot or to fast on the wire feed conduit will melt.
