well i was thinking about using a small 8hp engine for a mini chopper but mine crapped out on me. i then found a larger one in my dads garage and it has a frame that it fits in and i just have to angle the forks out and it will work nicely. well here goes. i wanna use a 225 cc trike engine for it and was wondering if this sounds a bit dangerous to anyone out there and what it might compare to in hp standards. its a 225DX if that helps

oh oops um i was asking if anyone knew what that engine size compares to in horse power and if this seems at all big for a mini chopper. guess i forget to phrase it into a question lol

it might be lil big, unless its heavydutier, the motor has gears, so HP is not really measured, im guessing 8-10 in 1st gear basing it on my Honda 200s.

Does it die when idling? Or when you give it gas?

no it does not get any gas so i have to assisst it to start by spraying liquid fire in the air filter. its like heavy duty starter fluid.

If that engine is off a trike, then it should fetch you about 15-20 hp.
If is has a kick start and gears, then i would reccomend makeing a real bike out of it.
You could even get it lisenced and ride it around town.

Did you clean the ALL the passages in the carb and make sure none of the gaskets werer bad and the airbox was hooked up with a filter and the speed screws tweeked? 100 for a moving one NICE.

yah the passages are all cleaned out. i musta cleaned it at least 5 times now. and one of the gaskets that is between the carb and the bowl that holds the floats is kinda broken but it still holds. and i dont have the airbox hooked up. i do have the air filter but i never put it on. could it not have the correct fuel/air ratio without the air box?

is it sparking take the spark plug out of the engine and put it see if it sparks
if it dont thats your problem if it dose put some fule directley in the cilender thro the spark plug hole and turn it over it shud fire over for a copple of seconds if it starts you no you have a fule problem fix or replace the carb

Do what robin said, also you could check the compression, if its below 100 u usually need to get new rings and or a piston and a bore.
