Me, 2 friends, my brother, and my dad are gonna try to make a Go Kart, we wanted one that has a radio (anyone help with that?), 2 seats, and is really cool, some people in our neighborhood, who are like 17 and 18 (older than us except my dad) made there one, we might ask to borrow their welder, but I wanted to know if anyone will help me if we have any problems, also, I'll post progress here, I love this website! But, can someone help me implement a radio into the go kart?

well adding a radio isnt that hard first off you need to decide what type of radio you want to use a car stereo or a standard one if you use a car stereo im not sure how you would do it but you might be able to do it the same was as on a car if you got the connectors to go with it however a standard stereo would be easy just add your 12 volt batterie to the kart and wire it to a ac/dc converter {can be bought at canadian tire} and plug the stereo into it if you want you could add a way to charge the motor off the motor like an alternator but if you dont want to use an alternator you could just charge it off a regulatr car batterie charger plugged into your house.

hope this helps

we're here to help! I'm glad you're taking on such a cool project.

About the radio: when i was a kid i just strapped a boombox onto my kart, but the kart was so loud that we couldn't hear anything. I'd design your kart thinking about the possibility of a radio --- but once you drive it, you may find the same thing i did -- karts are LOUD!

keep posting, and feel free to ask questions. There are now quite a few knowledgeable people around here.

if it dose end up too loud you could use two mufflers attached together with water pipe fittings if your motor has a screw type exhaust port

good luck and have fun
