I just picked up two more Karts today. Had to take the roll cages off both, broke most of the bolts, and put them almost on their sides to fit them in the back of my pickup.
They are Yerfdog's with 5.5 hp Tecumseh Power Sport engines.
They need cleaning up and need to be repainted.
One is missing the carburetor (anyone have one they would like to get rid of?), the other had the torque converter taken apart and now there are parts missing (anybody have any spare pieces, and parts?). The outer shell and the roller that goes in the center and the mounting bolt are missing.
So I pulled the torque converter off the one and put it on the one that has a carb. Pulled the bowl off the carb and drained the water out of it. Sprayed it out and put the bowl back on. I'll do a better clean up on the carb when it's light outside.
Shot some starting fluid in the carb and pulled it twice. Hmmm, nothing, Flipped the kill switch the other way gave it a pull and I heard the sound I was looking for. Shot it again, pulled and same nice sound.
So I know the engine will run. Tomorrow I will get some pictures, and put some fuel in the tank and see if it will haul my butt around the yard.
Whats a good way to get the rust cleaned off the drive and driven pulleys? This is the first time I have seen or owned anything with one of the torque converters. Everything I have ever had has used a centrifugal clutch.
