Should work great, that frame should be very strong and handle great off road. I'm not sure If I'd cut up a nice race frame to add suspension but with some taller off road tires, the right gearing and a torque converter it should rip off road.
Just keep in mind that some of these race chassis dont have much extra room for for taller front tires. Crank the steering wheel each direction to mesure for max avalible clearance.
Here's a link to a calculator to figure out your gearing options: http://www.diygokarts.com/speed-calculator.html
ps:
If your Margay is realy old (like from the 60's) and in good shape, it might just be worth a bunch of $$$ to a vintage kart collector...
Good luck man, let us know how it turns out.
