I have spent the past 12 hours searching online for one, and have failed to at least find a site that sells it. Yet everybody says its definite price is $99 as if it can be bought, and not just from other people. Anyways i am looking to buy a new one for %99 point me in the right direction, i will also buy a used one, we'll negotiate prices.

Why not just get a 6.5HP Clone? Mine has just been shipped. :D
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=66015

And then they drop the price 20 bucks after I bought mine...FML

just to prove your point that i AM obsessed with sled engines...

$100 articat el tigre, 440 twin runs good, puts out around 40hp, thats less than $3 per HP.

Sled engine i got for free, polaris 750 triple, puts out 140 hp(:surrender:), needs about $200 worth of parts to run good, thats less than $1.50 per HP

*sigh*...Fine those may be somewhat better but, you need special tools and places to fix the things wrong on them.

I just noticed...there is a snow mobile dump in a town of 2000 people... Maybe...I should try to go get one?

Harbor Freight will sometimes sell the 6.5hp clones for $99
thats a free horse power. you will get better acceleration for the same price.

Definitely should, look for fan cooled 340 or 440, liquid would be fine but more complicated, free air would overheat.

so just a question, what special tools do you need for a sled engine that you dont for a regular clone or briggs? The only real difference in tools is the briggs or clone needs a valve spring tool and is more complicated to reset after a rebuild (timing).

Yeah, for the money it's hard to beat the HF 6.5 hp. Do some slight modifications and it will make you grin. I just finally finished putting one on our cart and now it's twice as fast as the old Briggs 2.5 hp. Time to upgrade the brakes and bearings!:2guns:

Well, the clone is in perfect working condition. No work needed. As the sled engine might be a little messed up. So you need measuring tools. Honing tools. Gaskets. Tape. Luck. Cheap Parts Source.

I meant the fixing vs pre-running.

Ok i get what your saying, but if you look around you can find something worth it. today i saw a panther 440 fan at a tagsale for 50 bucks, needed points cleaned/replaced. Only tools needed for that are a flywheel puller (everyone should have one anyways) and a file.
