dose anyone know if a 4 stroke or 2 stroke 50cc motor would be enough to push a small go kart or perhaps a barstool racer and if so which one would be better and make more power
thanks

with the right gearing, anything works. a 3 hp 4 stroke or a 50cc 2 would probably be just fine. i don't know what the output shafts are on 50cc engines -- you'll have to ensure you can make a clutch setup work on it.

ya im not sure either i saw someone selling new 4 and 2 stroke 50cc engines in my local newspaper for $200 each so i was just wondering if they'd be ok to use
building a 50cc 2 stroke cart right now (daughter wrecked her scooter.) i should have it driveable in a week or so. working on drive shaft right now.

Okay...
Four stroke with only 50cc are just crap... Yeah their a bit quieter, but the accelleration and horsepower are shockingly low. I would reccomend a two stroke, yeah you've got to mix the fuel and stuff, but overall it gives allot more power, and perhaps a bit more speed depending on how many teeth your sprockets have.
