hey, i have never welded before in my life.........
what do i do to get strarted?

The best deal I found for a welder is a Hobart Handler 140 MIG welder from Northern tool. It has free shipping and it was about 460.00. Check the paper and so on you might find a stick welder for like a hundred bucks or so. Then go to you local vocational/technical college or school. I took a night course for about 130.00 for nine weeks and learned alot it was alot of fun too. Hope this helps.

go mig/mig w/o gas much easier... get a book, cheaper than classes, read, practice alot before your butt is on the line (ie, on a gocart going 30+)

find a friend that has one, start with car guys. they may even offer to weld for you.

you need a helmet (autodark is the best), gloves and mabe a jacket. You don't need a jacket but it's nice. Mig welding is the easiest to learn. You dont need lessons but they would definitely help. look around on the internet, theres some useful tips and find out what works best for you.
