I noticed that a few guys on this forum have some experience with Chinese clone motors. I wondered if anyone could comment on a couple of 16hp motors on Ebay. One is labeled PowerMax (http://cgi.ebay.com/PowerMax-16-HP-Motorhead-EZ-Start-Gas-Engine-Motor-NEW_W0QQitemZ120369797085QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_Def aultDomain_0?hash=item120369797085&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50) and the other is a Lifan (http://cgi.ebay.com/16HP-LIFAN-GAS-ENGINE-ELECTRIC-START-1-HORIZONTAL-SHAFT_W0QQitemZ170298216655QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_D efaultDomain_0?hash=item170298216655&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A0|293%3A4|294%3A50).
I'm leaning towards the Lifan even though it's a bit more, mainly because I've heard of them and I've never heard of PowerMax. Visually, the PowerMax seems to resemble the Honda GX390 but that might just be superficial.

Differences are cosmetic.
One is electric start, the other appears not to be.

They're both listed as electric start. So I should just go for the cheapest one?

Buy cheap get same.Don't you use a clone Mr. Tyler?
They're both listed as electric start.I missed it.
I would research elsewhere for a better price. Ebay clones tend to run higher in price than some other places.

I run a clone and I am happy with it.I also have one. Paid too much for though. Now it's getting heavy with dust.

$100 for it? That doesnt sound like too much to me. But I understand where this is going, You got most of your stuff for free and a stock 6.5 LB engine will probably whoop a stock 6.5 clone. No worry's I plan on getting another lawnboy soon and doing a good built on it. I still hit myself for throwing it out.

The key start/shutoff is nice. The Powermax looks like the way to go!

The Powermax looks more well-rounded. Internally they are about the same.

Powermax FTW. When i was building my kart my neighbor started building one too, and when i took mine outside to start it and get it running right, he pulled me into his garage and showed me his Powermax engine mounted to his frame. that thing sounds like a beast with the stock exhaust....
