Does anyone have any personal experience mig welding with aluminum? I have a project that is gonna require welding aluminum and I know it's gonna need some gas and reverse polarity. I don't personally know anyone who has welded aluminum before and I thought that maybe someone here has and would be willing to share some info.

I did a welding on an aluminum piece of my jeep once. you're supposed to use 100% argon. I didn't have that, so i just used my 75%argon 25% co2..

It certainly wasn't pretty, but it stopped my water leak.

Thanx for that info! About how much is argon?

I believe that you need a special set up for aluminum MIG welding.
TIG welding aluminum is verry common though. It is the main way that aluminum is welded.

i expect about the same as the 75/25 mix. I think I paid 30 bucks to fill my tank last time? It would be nice if you could just rent a 100% argon tank for a month.
