help with sprocket

i have a old go cart put on a 5.5 ohv briggs motor on it now need help with the chain size.sprocket is a 72 teeth what size should chain be? 3/4 inch shaft HELP

well rookie from the description i think u need a 35 pitch chain or a 41 pitch chain. Hope that helps.

what's the distance between the teeth?

I believe if its 3/8" its a #35 pitch. If its 1/2" its a #40

If the parts supplyer u use is nice you could but both 35 and 40 and see which one fits. how fast do you want your cart to go? with 72 and the usual 12 tooth with 35 chain you going around 20 depending on your wheel diameter.
