Bogging down

I have a 5 hp briggs. After riding for about a hour, when you mash the throttle it bogs down and tries to shut down. Idles fine. Trash on pickup tube? Is this common?

Trash on pickup tube? Most likely.
You are describing a lean condition which could be restriction in fuel delivery system.
Is this common?Wouldn't say it's common, it just happens.

Clean the carb, the screen on the pickups clog, other than that there is NOTHING to these things.
