Mechanical disc brake are not very easy to install and powerful Are you trying to say mechanical disk brakes aren't as powerfull? I can put my kart with 9.50 wide turf savers into a slide on dry pavement with my Air Heart mechanical disk brakes!

You'd be better off having a dedicated disk brake. With the sprocket, you'd have to worry about the caliper clearing the area around the chain too.

Definitely get a disc.

Also, disc brakes are much easier to mount than drum brakes.
