the motor stays vertical but that transaxle or a newer one will indeed have 2 horisontal output shafts

You might wanna weld the diff together depending upon your application.

do you have anything else remaining from the lawnmower or just the engine? if you can find a transaxle from another old mower, you could use that as your rear end, string a belt between that and the engine, and play with the pulley sizes to get the right speed. it would be sweet if you could find one with a hyrdostatic drive so you have have variable speeds!
