My dads OTHER friend just recently bought a mig welder and he said i could go over there some time and go crazy (he's got lots o steeel). Anything i should know besides tack welding and safety.

haha, safety #1! if he's got a welder, hopefully he can show you some processes. If not, buy a book, though it won't help a ton, but it will help for the basics. Home Depot sells the welding handbook which is a nice enough guide to getting started.

i might go to kms tools and buy a welding helmet for $60 canadian so i dont have to wait and i'm not sure weither he has everything or not...

I said besides safety cause i know almost all of it if not all of it. I've been thinking of buying a mig welder myself. Whats a good price and what a cheap crappy price?

I purchased a campbell and hausfield flux core weilder for $199 at walmart. The mig conversion is another $199.
