Kk here's the pics. Its a long box chevy 3500 duramax diesel. Capable of pulling 13 thousand pounds. To tow a camper we need to install a hitch insert because its a construction site hitch for BIG trailers.

Yes, A/C does still work. Even though it's 18 years old, it carries a R-134A system. I had just recharged it a few weeks ago.
It has a small oil leak, and I'm aiming that on the valve cover, as the oil pan is 100% dry. Planning on buying a valve cover gasket next week and replacing it on the weekends.
I need to do the differential fluid, shocks, and it should be good to go. Brake work is on the hold for right now. I'm planning on replacing the cat with a FlowMonster (once I start to get good at welding).

crazycart - Do you even know what a FlowMonster IS? Dang guys... do some research....
There's a difference between FLOWMASTER:
http://www.motortopia.com/files/9244/part/473dd198bd4d4/Flowmaster.jpg
And a FLOWMONSTER:
http://www.dependonauto.com/images/products/thumb/FLW1.3.jpg
Flowmaster makes exhaust mufflers, while Flowmonster makes performance high flow catalytic converters... Easy mistake, but honestly, do you really think I'd put a nice sound muffler on the van? (Fine... I would :D)

Well, here's my car, license plate blurred!
Not very many mods, at least enginewise. I had a Cosmo CAI, but I removed it because I wanted to test if it was the one causing my problem. Installed Eibach lowering springs in the front and rear and now I get more controlled cornering and not much sway. :wai: I could use some sway bars though. Front drop after springs was about 1.5" lower and rear about 1". Cross drilled and slotted rotors. These run a HECK of a lot cooler compared to the OEM non slotted/drilled ones. CarPC, of course :), and the 1Up mushroom for increased HP! :arf: Dents and scratches on the front and rear driver side add a combined total of 23.6HP. :arf: :arf:

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff93/htrdon/100_1131.jpg
The never-ending project, a '55 chevy 3100 pickup. I can get better pics later, all I have for now is a pic of he engine, a little teaser for ya. Highlights include: swapped in '78 Blazer 4x4 axles, turbo 350 tranny, a BBC, power brakes, power steering, and a rack and pinion steerring setup (custom done).
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff93/htrdon/366BigBlock.jpg
The 2001 four door s10. My dad's ride, he's always wanted one. When you order the 4 door package EVERY option that chevy had for the s10 is included. It's a 4x4 with a Vortec 4.3 v6. Soon the stock hood will give way to a 4" cowl hood (and not one of those cheesy fake ones either). Down the road it will get an 8, but the v6 runs so good right now we're gonna keep it as-is.

And last, my mom's daily. It's a 2000 Olds Alero. As you know Olds is now defunct but this is the sister car to the Pontiac Grand Am of the same year, so parts are easy to come by. It's got a 3.4 v6 that hauls *** when you step on it, not bad for a family sedan. Drove this thing to Texas a few years back and got almost 40mpg on the highway with the cruise and air on!

Thanks! And that would be cool. But then again I like the looks it gets when people pull up beside it at a light, they're like 'wtf'? Then they usualy ask what it's got. Someone said that it was a hopped-up 2.8 v6-yeah, ok.

Haha, I hope you are messing with me. First of all the v8 s10 has TWO (yea, 2) catalytic converters on it and is 100% emmissions legal. An go karts don't pollute? Think about that and get back to me. The only vehicle pictured that is not 100% emmissions legal is the '55, and that's because it's not required. In fact it will only be a weekend cruiser/show truck, so in reality it won't be driven all the time.
ANY vtech honda huh? Do me a favor, get me specs on a stock vtec car. Weight, hp, tourque, and gearing. And the s10 doesn't have "fail" gears in it. They are 3.73's, which are considered the "perfect" all-around gear, plus it's got a 4 speed stick. This thing will beat that supposed honda off the line and steal it's lunch. And believe it or not, s10's are light weight. There is not much to them. I'll find the weight for a standard cab, shortbed, 4x4 (how stupid would you feel if you got smoked by a 4x4?) first gen s10 and I'll get back to you.

Why do you guys always compare to Modded Hondas? Modded Hondas aren't the quickest out there. Most of the time the only "mod's" done to them are cosmetic and then the driver thinks they're all hard with their car. I'm in no way a "ricer" and don't care to be one. There are other better things out there. How about a TT, Supra or an R34? ...well, an R34 would be harder to come by. Those things can be insane! I've smoked a Honda or two before with my car and it's not the fastest thing out there. It also depends on the driver and how well they can manage their car. I had a truck beat me out once by a fraction because I didn't handle my car properly, and I didn't know they were gonna try to race me until it was actually happening. Had I actually tried, it wouldn't have been much of a contest.

i wasnt 'having a go' at the trucks, i was having a go at your simple disregard for the massively unnecessary engines in over weight vehicles. and you have 3 of them.
just because a car has two cat converters doesnt make it Good for the environment. infact it is such a poor vehicle it Needs two!
each to there own sure, we have a 4x4. its a 2.4 and runs on lpg. it pulls the weight a 4x4 should when it does and doesnt punish the environment with huge emmissions just by running when it isnt pulling a load.
seriously but, when you pull up next to a vtec honda and the guys clearly a polejockey, no matter how hard he punishes his car, his carbon emissions will always be less than half of yours.
pull up the stats of your truck and ill find a simple stock vehicle that will smoke it.

2 converters cause it has 2 banks of cylinders.
we have a 4.8 4x4 it gets 3 mpg better than the 6.0 4x4. but the torque is noticable. when on cruise control the 4.8 downshifts on hills and the other just keeps on plowing
that honda might have less than half the emmision but it also has less than half the torque

Ok, this is the point where it's time to "put up or shutup". The s10 weighs 2635lbs with the stock 2.8 v6, so just say 2700 with the v8 (it does have an aluminum intake). Do you consider that heavy??? It was a daily driver and hauled tools/materials every day. This engine has 283 CI, that's a 4.6 which is small compared to some gas-guzzling v8's. And it doesn't NEED 2 cats, I just thought it would be good if I put 2 on. This engine was in a different truck with ONE cat and passed the emmissions test as a 4 cylinder. So you tell me, how much does it really pollute if it could pass the 4 cyl test (actually surprised me a little). Oh, and I found a website 1/4 mile calculator (http://www.race-cars.net/calculators/et_calculator.html). Go down to the bottom and punch in 2700lbs and 375hp (because of parasitic loseses in the drivetrain). You get an et of 11.24. Ya know, maybe it's not a good idea to stick a nose into someone's stuff when you don't know the facts.
Gee, and I'd hate to be acting like a moron! Would that include insulting people for no reason, spitting on their country, and dissing their ride without the facts?

while i strongly support the environment and don't agree with US policy, the problem here wouldn't be someone with a truck but more of how no one pays attention to how much utility engines pollute (1 lawnmower = 40 cars each year, but thats not counting CO2 just the nastier gases) and bikes aren't much better. I'll try to put a cat on my bike motor so that at least I'm less of a problem here.
By the way, what's the problem with many cats, sure the second will take longer to heat up and start working but it can't hurt emissions thats for sure.

To those who don't know what a chupacabras is, it was a myth that was going around in latin countries, mostly, about a beast that was going around sucking the blood out of goats and cattle and leaving them there for people to find the next day. Chupacabras literally means "goat sucker".
I've heard that this was actually going around because of some political crap and people wanted to divert the publics interest away so that the officials could do their dirty deeds and stuff.

This was my first car... a 65 Comet with a straight 6 and all for $100 back in the 1980! Drove it until 1989, when it decided to go from 6 to 5 cylinders. (Still ran- just horribly!) Best $100 I ever spent.

THIS is my $50 motorcycle that served as primary transportation until my wife got sick of it- lots of fun, and the best $50 I ever spent! By the time I got rid of it, I had lowered it about 1 1/2", put chrome pipes from a cb350, and painted the tank/covers/headlight bright Ducati red. Did I manage to save a picture of it pimped out? Of course not. *sigh*

...but I personally think it makes everything much more complicated. I spent a half hour trying to finding my first welding thread :sifone:
I agree:iagree:. Perhaps there could be a pointer (of sorts) to parts 2 or 3 or whatever.
A newbie or guest may not be aware that there is continuation of the thread. He or she would just see an abrupt end of thread and not look any further. My 2¢.

You take drivers ed? You make it sound optional! In michigan "drivers ed" takes 2 years to get a full license! and thats assuming a perfect record, 3 years (18 years old) to get a full license if you have any crashes/tickets. At 15 you take level 1, this allows you to drive with your parents in the car(after 20 some odd classroom hours), then at 16 you take another class and do a road skill test, this gets you to level 2 which allows driving alone but not between midnight and sunrise. At 17 with a perfect reocrd you get a full license.
IT SUCKS!

Yea, in my state they want to raise the driving age to 17 from 16...son of a *****! I was I could live in North Dakota, the driving age there is 14! I would be driving by now!

09-20-2008, 06:17 PM
Here you take driver's ed once you're 15, it's a 6 week class. You have to hold your permit for a year, and do a driving log of 50 hours, 10 of that at night. You take a drive test at 16 and get your license, then it is restricted for 6 months after too.

Nope. I plugged the spot off where it broke (common problem, made of cheap metal) And drilled a new hole in the side of the case that holds the thermostat. I tapped the hole, put a spark plug insert in it, then put in a hollowed out sparkplug(acts as a nipple for the coolant line) Seems to work well, and gets better flow than the original. Pics soon.

And yeah, this engine is the biggest POS you could possibly imagine..Its does have about 190,000 miles though, no major failures.

Most of their stuff will go for a while, dad has a 94 Chevy 1500 W/T with a quarter million miles on it, everything works and it doesnt burn oil, never had any work past the maintenance schedule done besides a rear end seal. And we HAUL WOOD with this truck (fill it above the cab roof) and drive it down the highway, that rack aint for show.
Then again his last truck was a 84 chevy and it had electrical problems form hell, after going through the wiring twice he admitted defeat and crawled underneath with a bolt every rainy day to short the starter noid.

Congratulations. How many miles on the engine? They often have to be rebuilt after 100k but you never know. I'm saving for an 80's rx-7 as well unfortunately around here $3800 (CAD) is a pretty good for price for one that will pass safety. I'm up to $1000 now though so at least im making progress. robin
01-25-2009, 08:13 AM
the crank case has been mashined to give greater flow the port timing has been increased in on the barrel for more top end power
the exhaust port has been made bigger and polished i also run 97 octane and premix the oil the ignition has also been advanced 5 degrees i would go more but i risk detonation
and yes it is a 2 stroke

yup basicly riced :) I rebuilt the motor when i first got it for free i should have just put a sr20 in it but i didnt know about nissans at the time. i put beefy sway bars on it and a strut tower brace and did some autox. i had a nice stereo in it too. But i basicly didnt think it was worth dumping money into in mods because i wanted somthing better like my porsche. It was super fun to drive though maby even funner than the porsche because i could beat on it more. no regrets though. i had my fun with it

for looks why?
it doesnt have to be a race car to have hood pins?
jr dragster Tyler
01-29-2009, 04:46 PM
You think hood pin's realy look's good? It's ment to get the entire hood of fast. In drag racing they just dont trust the factory latch's so they use hood pin's instead.

Yeah, True keep the pin's on.

Ford takes only the best hood pins on the market, bolts an elastic band drive motor to it, and then designs a crappy shell around it.

Dude, Wasnt trying to piss you off, Just alot of people are Chevy lover's. Ford is known to make good truck's. Cant say too much about there car's. But the Mustang is the higher end of ford I just think a corvette look's much better IMO. Dont care what people say about your brother's ford. If you truly like it then dont listen to hater's.

Dude don't get fed up with people talking **** about ford. Talk some **** about chev's. We don't mean it personally, and we won't take it personally if you have a dig at chev.

My wife's bike with new carbs... Runs great now, and just needs the proper battery before I put the good seat on. Fun to ride.

Yeah, it took a little financial juggling, but they work great and replaced the old Keihin 20mm carbs perfectly. I took it for a "high speed" run (barely hitting 55mph) and it worked great. Gonna mess with the needle and richen them a bit- it kinda bogs at 1/2- 3/4 throttle.
In reality, the motor is smaller than any of my present kart motors! (HA!)
This was also the subject of the All Things Painted thread, and as usual, I flubbed it. The clear-coat peeled away on a small part of the tank- I'm MUCH better with the Rustoleum. (LowRider v2.0)

Thanks! This thing was purchased for $200, and we have maby a total of $200 in parts into it- this is my Wife's training bike... after that, we'll keep it just because I'm a huge fan of the Honda Parallel Twins. (Especially the CB 350!) Wait'll we get the new grips, levers, and seat on it!
Here's a BAD video of me trying to ride and film at the same time. Many will recognize the "Assburger Speedway" a couple of blocks from the house!
